Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on the Manager
Spurs fans who jeered keeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in two scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th top-flight at home defeat of 2025.
However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next goal when Vicario lost possession well outside his area.
He came out to deal with a high pass and took the ball near the touchline.
But, instead of booting it into touch, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 metres.
Moments afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.
Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.
A particular of those jeering episodes really angered the manager.
"It came to my attention a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with one another moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.
Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".
"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the part the keeper is playing. He is a great team player, he's a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."
'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario After the Game
Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Spurs.
He said following the game that he had to accept the feedback.
"That score was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.
"My aim was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "comes with football".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on the team to stay increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and calmness to reverse results. This match is a bad loss and it is tough to accept."
'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'
In spite of the keeper's mistake, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to score.
Actually it was the next most distant top division goal of the season – following Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on Saturday.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.
Ten seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five moments after the kick.
"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson said.
"I was surprised not one of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest lit up somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional opportunity. After that it was all about attempting to make the right connection and place it towards goal. I felt a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Poor Run, All Appears to Work Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager
While the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home woes.
The match was their 10th at home loss of the year in the league, a shared team statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to come before the close of the year.
Just a single of those wins have occurred since Frank took over from his predecessor in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.
"During in a poor run, everything seems to work against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from Vic.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.
"We just need to continue striving. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."
Spurs have lost 4 straight home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.
Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest averages on record in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).
Former Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He must take the stick," Murphy said. "He's taken a prestigious job at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
