The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at multiple agonizing personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that something was lost in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental choice, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
