World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a historic £11m in prize money.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
