Jurgen Klopp states a return to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign featuring continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, now holds roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would embrace the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage another team within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about the specific conditions must arise to draw him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or constant media duties a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, however, dining out with the team enjoying conversation, is pleasant. Success was frequent thus frequently a very good mood in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Jota, a player he signed while in charge, and its impact at the club. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision together with his sibling this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it as an excuse though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
