Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
