Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
